This 1930s villa can rightly be called a “dream in the dunes”. The special villa, on top of a dune in Bloemendaal, has been thoroughly overhauled internally and has been given a spectacular extension over two floors at the rear. The residents, a young couple with two school-aged children, made a very active contribution to the plan and its implementation. The smallest details were extensively discussed in an intensive collaboration. We have retained original architectural details in the renovated villa: steel frames, narrow high windows, round windows with crossed steel profiles. Where possible, the extension has been made “separate” from the original house by means of frameless windows. The impressive extension at the rear is the eye-catcher of this villa, not only on the inside but also on the outside, where it is finished with cedar wood.

On the living level, in addition to the spacious living room with comfortable seating area, there is a special kitchen with all-round steel doors that can be largely pushed away. The view of the rolling garden is spectacular. From the kitchen you can easily walk onto the spacious terrace. The cozy play area for the children and the indoor utility room (accessible from the hall) previously formed the kitchen. The cupboard wall near the dining table contains the door to the gym, which is located at garden level. Here too large steel fronts that connect inside and outside. The first floor is the domain of the parents and has a bedroom, dressing room, bathroom and two study rooms. The children share the attic floor where the original beams provide extra atmosphere in the spacious children’s bedrooms.
